About Me

My first 35mm camera, a manual focus Canon FTb was purchased with my High School graduation money. Forty eight years and many camera bodies later I’m still shooting images. My current lens collection affords me coverage from 11mm to 800mm.

Steve Embling Photography

During my first few years, I would slip into the photo area at my local dragstrip Empire Dragway and grab a few shots. I took photos from the stands for years before I won the NHRA National Dragster magazine photo contest and received a photo credential. I used that credential to head to the Winternationals in Pomona, CA. Networking with the late Leslie Lovett, I was able to get the credentials secured for some upcoming NHRA events. From there, I continued making contacts and met Bruce Biegler the owner of LMLC Media. Over the past 25 years, I have been able to provide images to Bruce for his extensive list of clients.

For the first portion of my career, I was focused primarily on drag racing photography and later expanding to shooting sports cars and Indy cars along with an occasional World of Outlaws and AMA Superbike events.

My images have appeared numerous publications including National Dragster, Drag Review, Inside Track Motorsports News, Drag Illustrated, Drag Racer, Chevy Hi-Performance, and Super Stock and Drag Illustrated along with others. Additionally, my work has been published in calendars, promotional materials, books and newspapers along with online galleries for Motor Trend.

Over the years, I have shot arena concerts for bands such as Aerosmith, KISS and Lynyrd Skynyrd as well as club shows featuring Gemini Syndrome and September Mourning.

I post one image daily, mostly of motorsports to my Instagram account: @photoguysteve

You can find my work primarily online at LMLC media.com, dragracecanada.com, RaceCrewMedia.com as well as in print in Inside Track Motorsports News.

If you are interested in event coverage or a single image, please contact me. Unfortunately, since I do not have a photo agreement with the NHRA I am unable sell images of their professional classes, but other drag racing classes along with other racing series images are available.
